The 5 C’s of the diamond business.
Cut
One of the most essential elements we evaluate when calculating the value of your diamond is the cut of the stone, which is directly controlled by humans while the others are influenced by nature. The “cut” of a diamond is distinct from its shape; whether it’s an oval, pear, or emerald shape, a well-cut diamond will always reflect more light. When a diamond is cut, the flat surfaces are set at angles that optimize the quantity of light reflected and enhance the stone’s beauty.
Clarity
The clarity of a diamond indicates how clear or “clean” the diamond is. A diamond will contain defects called “inclusions” which are inside and “blemishes” which are on the outside in its rough condition. The severity of the imperfections determine the clarity of the diamond. The clarity of a diamond is graded on a scale of “Flawless” to “Imperfect” by all Certified Gemologist.
Color
The best color is one that isn’t there at all. The color ranges from a brilliant colorless white to more elaborate hues. Light can be reflected and scattered most powerfully as a rainbow of colors when there is no color present. A stone’s hue is graded on an alphabetical scale, from D to Z.
Carat
A diamond’s weight is measured in carats. One carat is divided into 100 points, and smaller stones are occasionally counted in points, as an example, one half of a carat can be described as weighing 50 points or 0.5 carats. The term “carat weight” directly and exclusively relates to the weight of a diamond, not its size. Because a 2 carat diamond is more precious than two 1 carat diamonds, the larger the carat weight, the rarer the diamond.
Cost
A reputable business with use a Certified Gemologist whom will take into consideration all of the above aspects of a diamond when determining the value of diamonds.
DIMENSION OF A DIAMOND
The shape of a diamond is purely a question of personal preference; no one shape is more valuable than another.
